Periods/areas of interest: I'm interested in a lot of history, but I'm especially focused on a lot of aspects of 18th and 19th century history all over Europe, and a bit of early 20th century. Am into many earlier eras as well, but not as well read on them.

In the past few year's I've focused particularly on the 19th century history of Finland (my own country), in particular social and cultural history and microhistory, because I try to write historical fiction about that era. But it leads me to plenty of reading focused on other countries as well, because there isn't really enough available about Finland, so then I read on other countries and try to extrapolate, considering the differences. (Lots of interesting mental gymnastics there!)

I'm also particularly interested in queer history, women's history, and history of sciences, arts and culture as well as history of everyday life, across all eras and geographic areas. Biographies of female scientists are my catnip. I keep meaning to go beyond the Eurocentrism of much of my history, and to dive deeper into earlier eras.

Historical Fandoms: Lots of classics, e.g. Austen, L.M. Montgomery, Dumas's The Count of Monte Cristo. I'm currently a bit lacking in historical fiction / history adaptation fandoms - hoping to find some recommendations here! But I have several book fandoms of historical fantasy or sci-fi, including: Gail Carriger's steampunk/urban fantasy alternate 19th century series (The Parasol Protectorate series, the Custard Protocol series, the Finishing School series, and the associated novellas); Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell; Heather Rose Jones's Alpennia series; and Katherine Arden's Winternight trilogy.
Got any more historical comms we've missed? Not at the moment! Will let you know if I notice any.
Any other comms/events/ideas you'd like to see here? Some kind of prompt fests, themed challenges, resource sharing... Oh, and Promote Your Obscure Historical Fandom/Interest could be fun, too!
