Hello and welcome to
historium! Your mods are
thisbluespirit and
auroracloud.
This post is for us to introduce ourselves (for those who want to - it's in no way obligatory).
Optional template to use (with html coding to c+p below) - all questions are also optional!
Periods/areas of interest:
Historical Fandoms:
Got any more historical comms we've missed?
Any other comms/events/ideas you'd like to see here?
(See the main sticky post for general rules & guidelines and a directory of known Dreamwidth historical communities.)
If you are willing to promote the community elsewhere, then thank you! (Just C+P the below text into your journal to make a magic linking banner appear and there's a rebloggable tumblr post here:)

Date: 2018-12-08 02:49 pm (UTC)Historical Fandoms: I really love ancient BBC historical dramas! I know I should work on this, but I love their Tudor trilogy Shadow of the Tower (my favourite, even though it is not the best), Elizabeth R, & The Six WIves of Henry VIII and a whole lot of others like Enemy at the Door (WWII, Occupation of the Channel Islands), Tenko (WWII, female prisoners of war in Japan), The Duchess of Duke Street (early 20th C hotel running) and The Onedin Line (19th C Liverpool shipping line shenanigans). My main fandom is Doctor Who, so I blame those Hartnell historicals for a lot.
I do watch some modern ones, though - I loved Ripper Street, and I stuck all the way through Downton Abbey, despite the ridiculous. I prefer 1970s Poldark and the books to the new one, though. I'm also a long time reader of classic lit and Georgette Heyer and golden age crime and probably many other things. I was a librarian, but I studied history at uni *mumble* years ago, and it's always been one of my main passions.
Got any more historical comms we've missed? As I made the list, no! I'll keep searching, though...
Any other comms/events/ideas you'd like to see here? As mod, you will hear about them when & if I do. I think a comment or promptfest or some sort of event like that might be fun at some point.

I doubt we'll get to the point of threads collapsing, so you could just add them as a reply to your entry?

Date: 2018-12-08 10:36 pm (UTC)Periods/areas of interest: I would have to say I have a pretty general interest in history, probably with a little too much emphasis on American and British history. I have a definite interest in the World Wars and the Regency/Age of Sail though.
Historical Fandoms: Without Supernatural Elements: The Alienist, Band of Brothers, Black Sails, Downton Abbey, Dunkirk, Fury, The Great Gatsby, Hornblower, Jeeves & Wooster, King Arthur, Les Misérables, The Magnificent Seven, Master and Commander, The Pacific, Psmith, Vikings
With Supernatural Elements: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Agent Carter, Beauty and the Beast, Fantastic Beasts, The Mummy, Pirates of the Caribbean, Victor Frankenstein
Got any more historical comms we've missed? I learned about all the comms I know about from you so, I really couldn't say.
Any other comms/events/ideas you'd like to see here? I'm new at comms in general, so I am willing to follow your lead. :D

Date: 2018-12-08 10:50 pm (UTC)Historical Fandoms: My main current ones are Spartacus, Marco Polo, and Harlots. I also love Xena but that probably doesn't count for this comm. Have previously been really into Jane Austen, Hornblower, and War and Peace.
Got any more historical comms we've missed? No, I'm new to DW!
Any other comms/events/ideas you'd like to see here? I don't know what content is usually found in comms so I don't know yet.

Date: 2018-12-09 09:27 am (UTC)Periods/areas of interest: Though I'm generally interested in a number of periods, my absolute love is Alexander Hamilton and John Laurens. I've written quite a number of fic involving them (separately or together) on AO3 at
and I mayyy believe the Victorian era to be extremely overrated as a period :PI'm also just really interested in queer history in general!Historical Fandoms: I like Hamilton, obviously, but I don't really write for it other than by drawing from the actors for modern AU fic (which I rarely write) and I basically don't read for it. I've just started watching through Black Sails, too! Fandoms I enjoy but am not really currently active in: Pirate of the Caribbean, Jeeves and Wooster, War and Peace, The Great Gatsby, Beauty and the Beast, Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu, and Game of Thrones if that counts!
Got any more historical comms we've missed? Don't think so - I only just came back to DW and the historical RPF is new to me!
Any other comms/events/ideas you'd like to see here? Not so far!

Date: 2018-12-09 07:03 pm (UTC)Historical Fandoms: I am an Old Fandom Lurking Presence w.r.t. Les Mis and Phantom of the Opera. I like Victor Hugo a lot. Also a fan of Elisabeth, Notre Dame de Paris, and archiving all those obscure Phantom adaptations.
I'm new to Dreamwidth following the tumblr exodus, so I'm combing through comms and figuring out how it works. Excited to meet new people and check out some new discussions!
