* Don't forget that the Historium Commentfest is still open for prompts and fills! All historical fandoms welcome, both fictional and RPF, also general fandoms in historical settings. All types of fanworks welcome. Prompt and fill to your heart's content!

* springfest - prompting open to 27th March; claiming March 27-April 2; posting April 2-April 30. ("A month-long, once-a-year promptfest run in a manner similar to the prior kinkfest community.")

* Be The First is now open for sign-ups & writing (a challenge to write the first fic in any fandom without fic; on LJ, though no account is needed.)

* dick_or_treat: "a multi-fandom fanfic/fanart fest that runs from April 1 to April 30. Participation is open to anyone, no sign-up required! Participation is open to anyone, no sign-up required! Dick-or-Treat is akin to Kinktober in April. Kinktober is an event where participants have a list of kinks they're free to mix and match as they choose. Rather than kinks, however, participants of Dick-or-Treat can choose from any Pokemon move in existence."

* jukebox - sign-ups open till April 4. ("In Jukebox, songs and music videos are the fandoms. You can create fic, art, or podfic for prompts based on these canons.")

* ssrconfidential - sign-ups open till 30 March. (Agent Carter exchange; see comm for more info; see here for altered deadline dates)

* fandom5k: ("a multi-fandom gift exchange for fic with a 5,000-word minimum.") Sign-ups 23rd-6th April.)

* slashorific - prompt claiming open from April 1. ("A Fanfiction & Fanart Community For All Slash Fans (in all the fandoms).") 2019 round theme is Fairy Tales.

* npt_admin: Not For Prime Time opens for nominations April 5-15. ("a gen, het, femslash, and slash multifandom secret fiction exchange for medium sized fandoms.")

Ooh, thanks for the neat links round-up and all! I obviously needed to join the feminist_literature community, so I did (though I haven't said anything there yet), and I also clearly need to be following the frockflicks and historygirls feeds. Yay!

Hmm, I just thought of something that might be valid for this newsletter thing, by the way. I've become rather fond of podcasts, and have several history-themed podcasts I subscribe to. I'm going to make a post promoting/linking to my favourite history-themed podcasts when I get myself to do it; but I was wondering if it would also be relevant to link to latest interesting podcast episodes in the newsletter? If so, I could possibly try to collect the information for that... Or alternatively start my own podcast "newsletter" if that would seem easier and clearer. For people who like listening to auditory things, podcast episodes are a cool way to get in some information, recs, and mentions of upcoming books or movies or whatever, while doing chores, trying to wake up, knitting etc.

And the podcast thing sounds like a lovely idea - how would you feel about trying it as a separate thing (I am no good at listening to audio like that at all!) and then once you've got your sources lined up, it probably wouldn't be too hard to pass it over again if it became a bit much and we wanted to fold it into the one newsletter. But I'd have thought it would be very good as its own thing if you were up for it.

Yes, indeed. I was wondering how I came to miss it, because I have fandomcalendar & fandom_on_dw & yuletide on the historium watchlist, but I see it's not been promoted there yet, so that'd be why. I'll include it next time, though!

No, it's fine! We don't have any specific guidelines for posting format - as long as it's historical in some way, and anything large, long or NSFW uses a cut, it's all good.

One of the main aim of the comm is to be a central meeting spot to reach as many historically minded fans as possible, so it's more than okay to pimp fests like this here if anybody wants to.
